US buyer's notes
Worth asking any vendor about before you sign up.
Choosing a scheduling tool in the US
Health information: HIPAA
If you're a healthcare provider covered by HIPAA, appointment details for patients can be protected health information. You'd normally need the vendor to sign a business associate agreement (BAA) before you use it for patient bookings. Of the 21 tools we track, our research found a BAA or HIPAA features on 2: Acuity Scheduling (Offers a BAA on Premium), SimplyBook.me (HIPAA features on Standard and above). For the rest we haven't confirmed one either way, so ask the vendor. A BAA is required for HIPAA, but signing one doesn't make your practice compliant on its own; compliance depends on how you set up and use the tool.
Text reminders and consent
Automated texts are covered by the Telephone Consumer Protection Act (TCPA) and carrier rules. Get clients' consent before texting them, keep marketing texts separate from appointment reminders, and make sure clients can reply STOP to opt out. Ask the vendor how its SMS reminders handle consent and opt-outs.
Prices and sales tax
Every price here is in US dollars as the vendor publishes it, before any sales tax. Whether software subscriptions are taxed depends on your state, so the amount you pay may be higher.

How we compare
Every price and plan here is copied from the vendor's own pricing page, with the date we checked it and a link to the source.
When a vendor doesn't publish a figure, or we couldn't confirm it, we say so. We don't fill the gap with a guess, and we don't hand out stars or publish made-up reviews.
Some links may earn us a commission, and vendors can pay for a Verified listing or a Featured slot. Both are labelled as paid, and the order of every list still follows its stated criteria.
